MERMAID DOLLS...MERMAID CUSHION....LAVENDER I LOVE YOU DOLL

A new design for mermaid dolls...very simple...colourful and fun..they are made from cotton fabric, have painted faces and felt flowers for their tops....

I am blogging the mermaid cushion again..I have sold so many...I am glad you like them so much....Each one is hand painted so they all vary.

I have great fun making these dolls...they are all colour coordinated each one is totally different. I decided to put lavender into a few, this makes them a special gift for any one. The lavender is from my front garden..it keeps its smell for years...give it a squeeze now and then and the scent smells wonderful. The doll is stuffed with polyester and lavender is put in the middle of her tummy so she still feels soft and cuddly!

SHAKER INSPIRED CUSHION...

I hand printed the design on this cushion and then embroidered the whole design...I LOVE IT!
In fact I love all he things I sell...I would not contemplate selling anything I did not like or think was up to standard......

A close up of the design...If you click on it you should see the stitches...a labour of love!

WACKY ANGEL BAG...CUSHION....PAINTED T-SHIRT

My latest design... I took a print from a fabric collage which I put on to on white cotton....I then sewed it to the front of the bag....The writing is done in the same way., and reads...An Angels work is never done....Hearts mended...Tears kissed....Seedlings tended...Babies blessed...Stardust scattered...
This is my saying....

This cushion is done in the same way as the bag above....I am really pleased with how these came out.....I think they are fun , they would make a great present for any angel lover.

Sorry I forgot to crop this photo....at least my feet aren't in it this time!

It took me quite a while to paint this t-shirt...it is all done by hand..it is size 16....I did a few, I have a couple left.

A bit blurred! Not my day today...A close up of the above t-shirt....I put on little tendrils in gold, and high lighted the flowers...

ANGEL FABRIC COLLAGE...

This past week I have had a rotten cold!....I have got quite behind with my work....I had all the normal symptoms...but such a muzzy head......By that I mean I just could not find any form of creativity! .....I tried so hard but all in vain...so I stuck to the essential boring domestic duties and had a few early nights.
Yesterday I still felt stuck, so I decided to do a collage of a wacky angel...Mostly I used fabric, but a few bits of paper and paint and a little glitter glue....Love glitter glue!
This is what I came up with.....A cool wacky angel.....If I was an angel on my 'Angelic' site, this is probably how I would like to look!
I felt very pleased and this was enough to get me going again.
I have put her on a bag and cushion and am in the process of doing a t-shirt with her on
for myself....something I never get the chance to do!
Perhaps I shall have her as my official angel design....I'm back on track and full of ideas...wouldn't she make a great card design...

ANGELS...MERMAID BAG...

Both of these little angels are lovely to hang up anywhere......or just to keep for Christmas.

If you click on any of my photos you can see a close up.....In some cases you can see the stitches!

This bag is lined with a zip..it is roomy and has an inner pocket. The strap is long and can be worn over the shoulder or across the body. It features a print taken from one of my paintings. I edged the print with the yarn I love most..it is fluffy intertwined with papery ribbon and an iridescent thread...really pretty, it sets the picture off.

CUSHION COVERS............

Above and below are some fun cushion covers....they are all hand painted in original designs.
Each has a zip at the bottom....they all measure approximately 17"x17". I think an18"x18" cushion pad is the best size for these as that way they fit snugly with no baggy bits!

MERMAID.....ANGEL....

This is the third mermaid doll like this that I have made...I have blogged about her before if you want to know how she was made...Each one is different, so that you have a unique item.

This is the second angel doll that I have printed in this style....each one is unique.I have also blogged about her in a previous post.

BEAUTIFUL VELVET HEART BAG.

I made this pink velvet handbag yesterday...I bought the fabric because of the colour....bright pink but not the 'in your face pink'...I sewed on multi directional hearts...mostly shades of turquoise...satin and lurex...for shine and a touch of glitter..
There is a knack to sewing velvet...it can 'walk' slip and slide and gather its self....I learnt how to handle it properly from working for several ears as an up holster's machinist...Most f the sewing was piped box cushions for sofas....the pile and pattern had to run the right direction from top to the underneath including the piping. The work had to be 'perfect'.....otherwise I was told to unpick it!!! Most of our work was for top designers....for Lady Aster in Buckingham shire, and The Sloane Club in London....The only good thing about this job was that I got to keep some exquisite off-cuts of silk velvet ..double woven silk..tapestry etc worth at times well over £100 a meter....I still have a few precious bits....

This is the inside of the bag.The lining is perfect match...it has touches of gold that you cant see!

I put a large pocket inside..it has a zip...and I finished the top with the turquoise satin.

ANGEL...CAT DOLLS...HANGING HEARTS

Close up of the angel.

An angel doll which is suitable as a toy...but lovely as a decoration....she is made from cotton..stuffed with polyester...has a painted face and cotton yarn for hair.

I am not really sure quite what these are....Colin said they look like cats...hence cat doll.

I wanted to use some of my precious scraps of fabric...I have a chest of draws full of bits I love.

In these dolls I have used some very old scraps of Laura Ashley...they are just little bits left from other projects...all new...unused. Each of these dolls will be unique as the fabrics are no longer for sale.

They are very cute...and very fiddly to make!

This is the last one...Vintage Laura Ashley fabric...I threaded matching beads and tied a loop to hang.

I have the odd moments when I feel like creating a fiddly little things....really I like to decorate clothes and make one-off big items....
